Staff-up Saturday

Hello all,

I'm glad to finally release the plan for a weekly period where we will try and get a good level of staffing in the CTA for both traffic attraction and also controller training and refreshment on positions they otherwise may have overlooked.

Below you will see a Drive link, this spreadsheet is a replacement for a staffing thread, this sheet will be wiped after each Saturday.

The rule is, all green positions must be staffed before any others are booked out. This way we don't have any issues in flow. Please try to make the most of using all positions in the list (of course once the high priority positions are covered), also try to experiment using other positions more frequently and take turns using the more popular positions to ensure everyone gets a fair share and also so everyone can gain more experience on all positions available to you in the Reykjavik CTA. I recommend that each person tries to cover their position for the whole 3 hour period, however, I know people have time constraints so I have split it into 3 blocks so you can add when you are available.

Mentors and students: This time is also a good chance to get some online training (hopefully with increased traffic levels) so feel free to make the most of it, ensure the Mentor books the position out through this spreadsheet to alert others.

If you find yourself not in the list, don't be offended! Add yourself and allocate a colour tab different to everyone else.

If you're an C1 or S3, feel free to use the positions below your level providing the greens have been covered. If anyone struggles with AFIS or Procedural approach (BIAR) don't hesitate to ask any of the mentor team, also feel free to hop on the website and view the training handbook, its a little out of date but it should suffice until our new documentation is released soon. Any positions you desire to control which have been taken, by all means have a chat with the controller who has booked and discuss between yourselves who will take the position, we want to encourage a community environment between all the controllers in Iceland, get to know one another and get friendly, become a team! We are in a unique position having a small division where everyone can get to know everyone, lets embrace that.

I hope this is a success and everyone gets some enjoyment and good experience from the opportunity, feel free to drop me a message if you have any concerns, queries or suggestions.

STAFFING DAYS BEGIN APRIL 4th!

Love the idea for this event! Looking forward to hopefully getting some good traffic and attention to our airspace.

Out of curiosity will the green/orange/red airports stay the same every week? Or will we have some weeks where for example, BIAR is the high priority airport, or perhaps BGSF?

Good question, they will change, the spreadsheet allows us the opportunity to ‘switch things up’ and gives us the template to add special events such as AFIS only evening etc. We will of course need to see how successful they are out the gates from Saturday.

Suggestions have been made to edit the timings of the weekly event, therefore, I would like to create a poll in order to see what the most popular timings suit everyone so we can adapt the event to suit every as best we can.

You can see the live results here: https://linkto.run/r/A0HCYYO1

Furthermore, I would also like to see whether the time frame is best, therefore, enjoy another poll!

Thanks everyone for getting involved and voting.

Its clear that an earlier start is best suited to the majority, as well as a 4 hour session.

Therefore, the new times starting next Saturday are 15z-19z
