On 2nd March, to commemorate the elimination of oceanic clearances as we know them today, VATSIM Scandinavia will be co-hosting the event Farewell to OCL together with the other North Atlantic oceanic areas (Gander, Shanwick, etc.) This is a multi-hour staff-up event, focusing on full enroute coverage across the oceanic airspace, with supporting ATC on the local Icelandic/Greenlandic airports to attract traffic and reduce the workload of enroute controllers.

This will be a rostered event with potential to shift to first-come-first-serve based on controller availability. The rostering window is 1300-1800z.

Key event positions include:

  • BIRD_S1_CTR
  • BIRD_E1_CTR
  • BIRD_W1_CTR

Important supporting positions include:

  • BIKF_APP/TWR
  • EKVG_I_TWR
  • BIAR_TWR
  • BGSF_APP/TWR

All Icelandic "local" controllers, as well as controllers from neighboring VATSCA FIRs with the appropriate familiarization, are invited to join the party! Please reply to this forum thread with your rating and availability (as well as preferred positions if any.)

Hello all, partly overlapping with this event, vRYR are doing a "shuttle flight" event to Nuuk (BGGH), entering our airspace at 12z, ETA to Nuuk starting 13z.

Therefore, we are extending the staffing request to start at 12z onwards for anyone who can join. Important positions include West 1 (BIRD_W1_CTR), South 1 (BIRD_S1_CTR), Nuuk Information (BGGL_FSS), and Nuuk AFIS (BGGH_I_TWR.)

Please note in your availability if you can do this additional time span. Thank you!
