Martin Tornberg (1069087)
Have you created a VATSIM account but haven't yet had the courage to logon and do your first flight? This event on Sunday 17th November from 17-21z is an excellent occasion for you to try out the fun and immersive VATSIM environment where most of your fellow pilots is in the same situation as yourself. You will have the chance to fly from the following airports which will be fully staffed; Helsinki-Vantaa (EFHK), Oslo-Gardermoen (ENGM) and Stockholm-Arlanda (ESSA). The friendly controllers of VATSIM-Scandinavia will help you succeed with your flight on that day. To make it more enjoyable for everyone, we hope that you will remember to bring your charts which is available for free from the respective AIPs found below. There are also good pilot briefing pages for the airports featured on our website. There is also a PDF document with phraseology examples that gives you some idea on how it will sound on the frequency on the event. There is also a list of suggested routes for the airport pairs that we recommend you to fly if possible. We hope that you will show up on Sunday 17th November and fly between Helsinki, Oslo and Stockholm. Charts | Airport Briefings | Phraseology Examples Note: This event is focused on beginners of the VATSIM environment, so if you are a seasoned pilot we recommend and hope that you will fly somewhere else on that day in order for us to focus on the beginners to VATSIM. Thank you for your understanding. Martin Loxbo (811805)
Good to have some phraseology example. One important transmission that's missing though is to always include your cleared level when checking in with radar after departure (as well as any time when switching frequency when airborne). I notice way too often that VATSIM pilots miss this, and sometimes they are puzzled when queried, like they didn't pay much attention to what level the previous sector gave them.
