I hope that everyone has had and perhaps is still enjoying their Christmas and holidays. Like always here's an update of what's going on in the web services department for those who are curious :)

What are we working on?
In the last update we informed about the open source update of our Control Center, our Discord bot and plans to explore a wiki-solution for ATC documents. The latest news here is that Control Center development is progressing as planned, the largest upcoming change will be a rewamp of the endorsement data. This will enable to systematically give endorsements such as S1 endorsements, solo endorsements, visitor endorsements and more in one place. Also keep log of historic endorsements and ability to revoke them. This will come in v3.0.

As of the Discord bot, we've released functionality to create recurring staff-up events directly in dedicated Discord channels to streamline this process even more. Here we also have upcoming functionality of automatically booking the positions through Discord, which will be released in one of the next updates.

We piloted the wiki project for a few months for the Norway FIR documentation. This gave us positive feedback from the users and maintainers that we decided to make it permanent for Norway FIR. We've registered interest from other FIRs as well to join in, and we're currently waiting for a wiki software update that will enable us to easier implement more areas without creating uneccesarry mixup of the content. We hope to provide the same solution for those who want once this update is out in 2022. Thank you to all who helped out migrating, creating and maintaining content so far!

In addition to all this, we're doing some background upgrades of our websites, which might cause some downtime periodically now the upcoming days. I won't bore you with the techinical details of this, but it'll make it easier for us to maintain the servers in the long run. We don't have any large upcoming projects except of this for now.

Stats and facts
I thought to add some stats and (fun?)facts about VATSIM Scandinavia at the end.

We're large, and has as of today,  we've 4114 registered members according to the VATSIM Database.

You might have noticed that on Discord the offline members has been removed from the sidebar. This is a limitation from Discord becuase we've passed 1000 members on our server! As of today, we're exactly 1,111 members. Ranking us at least on the official VATSIM Discord list, the 4th largest server. We get around 16 new members each week, and suprisingly many join through server discovery. Though 7 people leave the server each week as well, perhaps because it's not for them.

Since september 2021, #finnish-chat is clearly the most active channel we've on our Discord, followed by #open-chat and #pics-and-videos (finland). You finish people surely love to talk!

Expect the category "other" which could be whoever, the Norwegians rule the majority of members

That's all!

I want to thank the whole web team @Gustav Kauman @Markus Nielsen @David Mortensen for all their contributions and hair pulling when debugging this year. It's been great to working with you!

Happy new year to all! 🎉
